Fine condition antique US Model 1868 Trapdoor Springfield Rifle in .50-70 Government caliber. Lock is marked “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD” with the American eagle and dated 1863. Breech block is dated 1869. Metal finish is original bright with some gray and brown patina. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has beautiful original bright finish and shows a few normal handling marks. Left side of stock flat has four sharp clear inspector cartouches opposite the lock. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. A beautiful example for your collection!
