
Very good condition original pre WWI Imperial German Model 1871 Mauser bayonet that is maker marked “SIMSON & CO. SUHL” on the left ricasso and dated 1892 on the spine. Bayonet shows rare and desirable Saxon use with a “crown GR” cypher marking on the blade spine. Unit marked “133.R.8.84.” on the left side of the guard for the 133rd (9th Royal Saxon) Infantry, Company 8, Weapon 84. Blade has original bright finish with some scattered gray and brown patina. Guard has mostly brown patina. Brass grip has attractive patina. Lock button and leaf spring function fine. No scabbard. A rare Saxon marked M71 Mauser bayonet that will make a fine addition to a collection.
