Very good condition WWII US military Winchester Model 12 trench gun pump action shotgun. Mechanically functions fine. Serial number 960xxx, which is in the correct range. Note that the serial numbers on the receiver and barrel assembly were hand-stamped, NOT machine done. Right side of receiver has original “U.S.” and “flaming bomb” markings. Barrel is dated “42” and has a flaming bomb marking on top. 20” barrel appears to have had a sight bead, as a riot gun would have, and this was removed and the hole plugged. Fitted with an original, but incorrect earlier 6-row handguard. The magazine tube has been modified from takedown pin to screw. Metal finish is arsenal refinished gray parkerized. Bore is very good and bright. Forend has original finish. Buttstock is marked “OSP” in the right side buttstock and “66” and “IE” in the left side buttstock and shows some normal handling marks. Does NOT have US military markings and has a “BISHOP” buttplate. This gun was likely reworked after WWII and later issued to a police force, likely Ohio or Oregon State Police.
