Very good condition antique French Mle 1866-74 Gras rifle in 11 x 59r caliber. Originally manufactured as a Chassepot needle gun and later arsenal converted to the Gras bolt and metallic cartridge. Rifle has St. Etienne Arsenal and model designation markings on the receiver. Barrel has 1872 manufacture and 1880 conversion dates. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers. Metal finish is nice original blue showing a little normal wear. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock has an 1872 dated roundel cartouche. Left side buttstock has an 1880 dated roundel cartouche and a matching serial number. Complete with correct original leather sling and matching numbered cleaning rod. A nice French Gras rifle with matching numbers.
