Very good condition original antique Prussian Model 1854/68 Dreyse Needle Gun Rifle in .65 caliber. Originally manufactured as an Austrian Model 1854 Lorenz Rifled Musket and captured by the Prussians during the Austro-Prussian War. One of 35,599 conversions performed for issue to the Prussian Landwehr during the Franco-Prussian War. Mechanically functions fine and has intact needle. Marked “Herzberg” on the left side of the receiver and dated 1869 on the right side of the receiver. Also marked “HAISER” on the barrel. Rifle has all matching serial numbers except the bolt. Metal finish is nice original “in the white”. Bore is good with strong rifling and a little dark in the grooves. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock and underside of buttstock have sharp clear Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Rifle is unit marked “5GGB 3C 41” on the buttplate tang. Haven’t been able to identify this unit. Complete with correct original clearing rod. A rare and desirable Dreyse needle gun variation that will make a fine advanced addition to a collection!
