Very good condition WWI US Model 1903 Springfield Rifle in .30-06 caliber. Receiver is marked “SPRINGFIELD ARMORY” and is serial number 998xxx, which dates it to manufacture in 1918. Rifle is NOT import marked, Bolt is straight handle, not considered safe for shooting. Barrel is marked “SA” for Springfield Armory and dated “6-17” for June 1917. Rifle is fitted with an original Warner Swazey Model 1913 sniper scope on what appears to be an original mount. Scope has cloudy optics, but original reticle is present. Has original black finish and good markings. Comes with original leather carrying case and rubber eyepiece that is stiff and damaged. Also comes with a reproduction rubber eyepiece. Rifle has nice arsenal refinished parkerized finish. Bore is very good and bright with strong rifling. Stock has been arsenal refinished and shows some handling marks and dings. Left side of wrist has a Raritan Arsenal “RA-P” rework cartouche. Comb is stamped “2450”. Complete with correct original front sight hood and 1918 dated leather sling.
