
Good condition original antique US Model 1817 Flintlock Common Rifle in .54 caliber. Manufactured by Nathan Starr & Son of Middletown, Connecticut in 1841, as marked on the lock. Gun is in flintlock configuration, but appears to have been converted to percussion and later converted back. Barrel is marked “US/AH/P”. Mechanically functions fine. Metal finish is original brown showing some wear and some light pitting. Bore is dark and pitted with good rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some handling marks. Left side of forend has a crack between the front and middle bands. Right side of stock has a crack in front of the lock and another crack between the rear of the lock and the breech tang. Ramrod channel has a few chips. Complete with correct original ramrod. A hard to find original US Model 1817 Flintlock Common Rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
