Good condition antique German GEW 88/05 Commission Rifle in 8mm Mauser caliber that was manufactured by Loewe Berlin in 1891, as marked on the receiver. Rifle is NOT import marked and NOT Turk marked or modified, and has all matching serial numbers except the firing pin and rear sight slider. Has the “/05” update to use standard 98 Mauser stripper clips. Non-Turk-marked GEW 88/05 rifles are very rare and hard to find! Receiver, bolt, and buttplate are original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina. Remaining metal finish is original blue showing some wear. Bore is gray with worn rifling and some pitting. Stock has been lightly sanded and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock and underside of buttstock have Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. A hard to find non-Turk marked GEW 88/05 Commission Rifle with nearly all matching numbers that will make a fine addition to a collection!
