Good condition original antique Civil War era French Mle . Etienne Arsenal markings on the lock and the model designation marking on the barrel tang. Bore gauges at .74 caliber. Mechanically functions fine. Metal finish is original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina. Barrel has a partial cut (not all the way through) behind the bayonet lug. Smooth bore is good, a little dark. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock has a worn roundel cartouche and intact wooden plug. Complete with ramrod. A good example of a classic French Mle 1842 musket.
