Very good condition original WWI Imperial German Model 1889 cavalry sword that is maker marked “PACK OHLIGER & CO. SOLINGEN” on the left ricasso and dated 1916 on the spine. 32 ½” quillback blade has original bright finish with some gray and brown patina. Still has original leather washer at the base. Hilt has mostly brown patina. Guard has Prussian eagle design. Hard rubber grip has a good tight fit and no damage. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has original blue finish showing some wear to plum brown patina and several dents. A good example of an uncommon combat issue WWI German M1889 cavalry sword.
