Good condition original antique Civil War Smith breech loading carbine that was converted from percussion to .38-40 Winchester, with a new heavy 21 7/8” octagonal barrel installed. The firing pin is bent and frozen in the “fired position”. NOT safe to load and close. Can be fixed by removing the bent pin and replacing or straightening. Metal has mostly brown patina. Bore is gray with strong rifling and some pitting. Original sights are present. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. An interesting Smith Carbine that will make a great addition to a collection!
