Very good condition WWII US military M1 Garand semi auto rifle in .30-06 caliber. Receiver is marked “SPRINGFIELD ARMORY” and is serial number “407887”, which dates it to manufacture in November 1941. Rifle was supplied to Britain during WWII as part of Lend Lease and has British Birmingham proof house markings on the barrel. Rifle has all correct Springfield parts. Early grooved handguard clip, flush nut rear sight knobs, uncut op rod. Metal finish is nice original gray parkerized showing a little normal wear. Bore is fine and bright with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Left side of stock has “S.A./G.H.S.” and ordnance wheel cartouches below the receiver. Underside of wrist has a “circle P” cartouche. A nice, rare and desirable early war British Lend Lease M1 Garand that will make an excellent addition to a collection.
have been told the stock stampings may be spurious, later added.
