Very good condition antique US Model 1892 Krag Jorgensen Rifle in .30-40 caliber that is marked “U.S. / 1894. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY. 17456.” on the receiver. Other rifles with nearby serial numbers were issued to the Department of Dakota. Rifle has all correct original early features. Metal finish is original blue showing some wear. Bore is good, mostly bright, with strong rifling and a little pitting. Stock has original finish and shows some handling marks. Left side of wrist has a faint inspector cartouche. Underside of wrist has a “circle P” cartouche. Front band screw and the front band’s stacking swivel are absent. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. A hard to find early US M1892 Krag Rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
