
Good condition original antique US Model 1836 muzzleloading pistol that was originally manufactured as a flintlock and later arsenal converted to percussion. Manufactured by Robert Johnson of Middletown, Connecticut in 1840, as marked on the lock. Barrel is marked “US/NWP/P”. Mechanically functions fine. Metal has mostly brown and gray patina. Smooth bore is dark with some pitting. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Left side of stock has two sharp clear inspector cartouches. Complete with correct original captive ramrod. A classic US Model 1836 pistol that will make a fine addition to a collection.
