WWII CUSTOMS USE-“RFV” MARKED ON BUTTPLATE
Very good condition WWI German Kar 98az Mauser Rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber that was manufactured by Danzig Arsenal in 1918, as marked on the receiver ring. Rifle shows postwar Weimar use with the “1920” marking on the receiver. Rifle is marked “8MM” on the barrel, otherwise NOT import marked, and has all matching serial numbers. Marked “RFV” on top of the buttplate indicating WWII use by the Germans customs service. Metal finish is original blue showing some normal wear. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock and undersides of wrist and forend have Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Left side buttstock is marked “1920”. Underside of buttstock has a matching serial number. An interesting Kar 98az Mauser Rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
