Good condition original French AN IX infantry briquet sword that is maker marked on the right ricasso and dated 1831. 23 ¼” blade has original bright finish with some graying and pitting. Edge has been sharpened and has several nicks and dings. Brass hilt has attractive patina. Fitted in correct original leather scabbard that has brass throat and tip. Leather is supple with some normal wear and flaking. Tip has several dents. Stitching is tight. One throat staple is missing, the rest of the staples are tight. A classic French sword that will make a great addition to a collection!
