Very good condition WWI German GEW 98 Mauser Rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber that was manufactured by Danzig Arsenal in 1916, as marked on the receiver. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers. Note that the stock was depot renumbered, with the external number crossed out and a matching serial number penciled inside the channel. Handguard also has a penciled number inside the channel. Receiver, bolt, and buttplate are original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina. Remaining metal finish is original blue showing some normal wear. Bore is very good and bright with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Right side of forend has an arsenal repair patch. Underside of wrist has an Imperial German proof mark cartouche. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. A nice WWI German GEW 98 Mauser Rifle for your collection.
