Good condition pre WWI British MK I*** SMLE Enfield Rifle in .303 British caliber that was manufactured by B.S.A.Co. (Birmingham Small Arms Company) in 1907, as marked on the right side of the receiver socket. Rifle shows Irish use, with the serial number being replaced with one that has a “CR” prefix. Rifle is NOT import marked and has matching Irish serial numbers on the receiver, barrel, bolt, and nosecap. Rear sight, magazine, and forend do not match either the original serial number nor the Irish number. Rifle has the original bolt head charger guide and is also complete with original magazine cutoff and volley sights. Metal finish is original blue showing some normal wear. Bore is good, a little dark in the grooves, with good rifling that shows some normal wear. Stock has original finish and shows some wear and handling marks. Right side of buttstock toe has a crack. Right side buttstock has original brass unit marking disc that is stamped “N”, probably for Royal Navy use. A hard to find MK I*** SMLE rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
