RARE EARLY CARTRIDGE GUN-ONLY ABOUT 2000 MADE
Very good condition antique Brown Bolt Action Rifle in .58 centerfire caliber. One of about 2,000 produced by the Browning Manufacturing Company of Newburyport, Massachusetts circa 1869-73 using repurposed Civil War British Pattern 1853 Enfield Rifled-Musket barrels and stock sets. Some of thse rifles may have been used in the Fenian raids. Mechanically functions fine and has nice manufacturer markings on the bolt. Receiver and bolt are original “in the white”. Barrel has nice original plum brown finish. Bore is very good and bright with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock has a nice “BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS TRADE” cartouche. Brass triggerguard, nosecap, and buttplate have attractive patina. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. A nice example of a hard to find Brown Bolt Action Rifle.
