Good condition original antique Civil War British Pattern 1853 Enfield Musket. Originally made as a .577 caliber rifle and later the bore was reamed out to .61 caliber smooth bore. Lock is marked “1862 TOWER” with the crown. Barrel has “25 25” bore markings. Mechanically functions fine. Metal has mostly brown patina. Barrel has some pitting at the breech. 39” barrel has a good smooth bore with some pitting. The original rear sight was removed and replaced with a simple notch blade. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Complete with correct original ramrod. A classic Civil War British P53 Enfield for your collection.
