Very good condition WWI/WWII German GEW 98M Mauser Rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber that was manufactured by Waffenwerke Oberspree Kornbusch & Co. in 1916, as marked on the receiver. Rifle was updated from GEW 98 to GEW 98M configuration in the 1930’s, with “S/42K” marked tangent rear sight installed. Rifle was supplied to Franco forces during the Spanish Civil War. Rifle is NOT import marked and has original matching serial numbers on the receiver, barrel, and triggerguard. Stock and bolt were Spanish arsenal renumbered to match. Metal finish is Spanish arsenal reblue, in excellent condition. Bore is gray with average rifling and some pitting. Stock was Spanish arsenal refinished and shows a few normal handling marks. Left side of stock has a Spanish applied matching serial number below the receiver. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. An interesting GEW 98M Mauser rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
