Very good condition original WWII Japanese army officer Shin Gunto sword. 26 ½” fullered blade has nice original bright finish with a little gray freckling. Edge has a few nicks and dings. Right side of tang has faint black painted kanji characters. No other signatures. Grip has tight cloth tape wrap and nice white rayskin covering. Shows some normal wear. Held to tang with a single bamboo mekugi and features a single menuki on both sides depicting three cherry blossoms. Tsuba has two seppa on both sides. All matching assembly numbers. Scabbard lock button functions fine. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has nice original green paint and one dent. A nice WWII Japanese army officer Shin Gunto.
