Very good condition WWI French Mle M.16 Berthier Rifle in 8mm Lebel caliber. Built on a Chatellerault Mle 1907-15 receiver, but has the Mle M.16 5-shot magazine. Barrel is marked “MPA” and dated 1917. This interesting rifle was supplied to Poland after the war and has Polish eagle markings on the receiver and barrel, along with Polish “triangle Z” markings. Metal finish is nice arsenal reblue. Bore is good with strong rifling and a little gray with some pitting. Stock was arsenal refinished and shows some normal handling marks. A rare Polish marked Berthier Rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
