Good condition Ethiopian marked German 98k Mauser rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber. This interesting rifle was originally manufactured as a Standard Modell 1924 rifle and has said model designation marking on the receiver side rail. Receiver ring has the Mauser banner trademark and dated 1934. Barrel shank has the Ethiopian Lion of Judas marking. Rifle later had a post-WWII Czech 98k stock installed (Ethiopia also purchased Czech-built 98k rifles), which has a nice original disc in the right side buttstock depicting St. George and the Dragon with Amharic writing. Rifle is import marked on the barrel and has matching serial numbers on the receiver, barrel, triggerguard, and floorplate. Otherwise nonmatching. Interestingly, the front of the triggerguard has Chinese markings. Original blue finish is mostly worn to the white. Bore is poor, dark and pitted with no visible rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some normal wear and handling marks. A hard to find Ethiopian marked 98k Mauser rifle.
