Very good condition original WWII Japanese army officer Shin Gunto sword. Blade measures 26 ¼” from the habaki notch to the tip and has nice original bright finish with a few gray freckles. Tang has signed kanji characters on both sides. Wooden tsuka has nice white rayskin covering and tight cloth tape wrap that shows some normal wear and staining Has a single menuki on both sides, depicting three cherry blossoms. Brass tsuba has attractive patina and a single seppa on both sides. Tsuka is held to the tang with a single bamboo mekugi. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has excellent original paint and no dents. A nice WWII Japanese army officer Shin Gunto that will make a fine addition to a collection.
