Excellent condition original WWI German 98/05 Mauser butcher bayonet that has the Carl Eickhorn “back-to-back squirrels” trademark on the left ricasso. This early pattern bayonet has high muzzle ears and was made without a flash guard. Bayonet has nice original bright plated finish overall. Blade was never sharpened. Pommel has a ding. Wood grips have original finish and a good tight fit, lock button functions fine. Complete with correct original knot that is in very good condition. Knot shows some wear and staining and has the colors for Company 2 of an Infantry Regiment. Fitted in correct original leather scabbard that has steel throat and tip. Leather has some scattered flaking, stitching and staples are tight. A really nice WWI German 98/05 Mauser butcher dress bayonet!
