Very good condition WWI-WWII US Model 1903 Springfield Rifle in .30-06 caliber. Receiver is marked “ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL” and is serial number 269xxx, which dates it to manufacture in 1918. Below the serial number for improved heat treatment, NOT considered safe to fire and is sold as a collectible only. Barrel is marked “SA” for Springfield Armory and dated “3-39” for March 1939. Metal finish is arsenal parkerized showing some normal wear. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has been refinished and shows some normal wear and handling marks. Underside of wrist is marked “P” Handguard is the early type with cutout on top under the hump. A nice Model 1903 Springfield Rifle, used through both World Wars.
