Good condition original antique US Model 1884 Trapdoor Springfield Cavalry Carbine in .45-70 caliber. Lock is marked “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD” with the American eagle. Breech block is marked “MODEL 1884”. 22” barrel has “VP” and eagle head proof marks, and correct original sights. Metal finish is original blue showing wear to brown and gray patinas. Breech block retains some strong original case colors. Bore has a ring near the muzzle, otherwise very good and bright with strong rifling. Stock has been sanded and refinished. Underside of forend is stamped “15” in front of the triggerguard. Has the “Model 1890” barrel band with hump that protects the rear sight. Original saddle bar and ring are present. Complete with correct original front sight hood. A nice example of an original Trapdoor Springfield Carbine.
