Very good condition original WWII Japanese army officer late war Shin Gunto sword. Blade measures 26” from the habaki to the tip and has original bright finish with a little spotting and a few scuffs. Edge has a few dings. Tang has signed kanji characters on both sides. Wooden tsuka has nice white rayskin covering and tight cloth tape wrap. Held to the tang with two bamboo mekugi. Features a single menuki on both sides, depicting three cherry blossoms. Has a simple tsuba with a single seppa on both sides. Scabbard latch button is present and works, but is not 100% secure. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has nice original paint and no dents. A nice late war Shin Gunto that will make a fine addition to a collection.
