Good condition antique German Model 1871 Mauser Carbine in 11mm Mauser caliber that has Spandau Arsenal markings on the barrel and dated 1876 on the receiver. Carbine is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the trigger sear spring screw. Nosecap is an unnumbered, new made cast replacement. Carbine is unit marked “21.D.2.64.” on the buttplate for the 21st (2nd Baden) Dragoons, Squadron 2, Weapon 64. Metal has brown and gray patina. Bore is good with strong rifling and some pitting. Stock has original finish and shows some wear and handling marks. Underside of buttstock has faint Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Forend tip is cut out for a different type of band. A good example of a scarce German M71 Mauser Carbine.
