CONFEDERATE “SH” MARKED-SINCLAIR HAMILTON
Good condition original antique Civil War British Pattern 1853 Enfield Rifle Musket in .577 caliber. Lock is marked “TOWER” and dated 1862 with the crown. Barrel has “24 24” export proof marks. Rifle shows desirable Confederate use with a “crown/SH” marking on the bottom of the stock behind the triggerguard, for Sinclair Hamilton. Mechanically functions fine. Metal has been reblued. 40” barrel has an unusual octagonal breech. Rear sight slider is missing. Bore is good with strong rifling and a little dark. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. The triggerguard sling swivel is missing. A classic Confederate use Civil War British P-53 Enfield Rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
