WWII US M1 CARBINE-IBM-AUTO ORDNANCE SUBCONTRACT RECEIVER

WWII US M1 CARBINE-IBM-AUTO ORDNANCE SUBCONTRACT RECEIVER

Very good condition WWII US military M1 Carbine in .30 Carbine caliber that was manufactured by IBM, as marked on the receiver. Receiver is marked “AO” for Auto Ordnance subcontract. Auto Ordnance subcontract M1 Carbines are hard to find, with only 50,000 produced late in the first block of production, circa 1943-44. Gun is NOT import marked. Barrel is marked “IBM Corp.” and dated “11-43” for November 1943. Type 2 Inland stock, “KI” bayonet lug band, and late adjustable rear sight. Otherwise all correct IBM/Auto Ordnance parts. Wide locking tang. Metal finish is nice arsenal refinished parkerized. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has nice arsenal refinish and shows a few normal handling marks. Left side of stock has a Rock Island Arsenal “RIA/EB” rebuild cartouche. Right side buttstock has an ordnance wheel cartouche. Left side of oiler cutout is stamped “IO”. A nice example of an uncommon M1 Carbine variation.
