
GRENADIER UNIT MARKING-VERY RARE GUN
Fine condition antique German Wurttemberg Model 1868 Dreyse needle gun rifle in 15.4mm caliber that has Oberndorf manufacturer and model designation markings on the left rear of receiver and dated 1869 and 1871 on the right rear of receiver. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers. Mechanically functions fine and has intact needle. Receiver, bolt, and buttplate are original “in the white” with some graying on the buttplate. Remaining metal finish is nice original blue showing a little normal wear. Nice brass fittings. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Left side of stock has a crack above the triggerguard. Right side buttstock and underside of buttstock have nice German proof mark cartouches. Rifle is unit marked “119.R.2.1.” on the buttplate tang for the 119th (1st Württemberg) Grenadiers “Queen Olga”, Company 2, Weapon 1. Complete with correct original clearing rod. A rare Dreyse needle gun variation that will make an excellent addition to a collection!
