Good condition original WWI / WWII US GI fighting knife that was converted from a US Model 1860 cavalry sword. Left ricasso has Ames manufacturer marking. Right ricasso has 1863 date. Markings are faint. 8 ½” blade has original bright finish with some gray and brown patina and has been sharpened. Leather covered grip has tight wire wrap and shows some normal wear. Brass guard and pommel have attractive patina. Comes with a replacement modern Case black leather sheath. Interesting knife for your collection.
