Good condition antique German Model 1871 Mauser Carbine in 11mm Mauser caliber that has Spandau Arsenal markings on the barrel. Receiver has 1879 and 1888 dates. Gun is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the nosecap and trigger spring screw. Unit marked “14.H.R.4.29.” on the buttplate for the 14th Reserve Hussars, Squadron 4, Weapon 29. Metal is worn to the white, with some gray and brown patina. Buttplate has some pitting. Bore is good with strong rifling and some pitting. Stock has been refinished. Right side buttstock and underside of buttstock have faint Imperial German proof mark cartouches. A hard to find German M71 Mauser Carbine that will make a fine addition to a collection.
