Good condition original antique English Deane & Son Frederick Prince’s Patent breech loading rifle in .38 caliber that features a unique sliding barrel action. Lock is marked “DEANE & SON”. Barrel has faint patent markings. Mechanically functions fine. Metal has mostly brown and gray patina with some light pitting. 28” barrel has a good bore that is dark gray with strong rifling. Stock has nice original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Wrist and forend have strong original checkering. Left side of stock has a small crack by the breech. A rare and unique breech loading rifle that will make a fine advanced addition to a collection!
