
Very good condition antique German Model 1871 Mauser Rifle in 11 x 60mm caliber that has Amberg Arsenal markings on the barrel and dated 1881 and 1882 on the receiver. Rifle shows Bavarian use with a “crown L” marking on the barrel, and is unit marked “B.8.R.E.8.199.” on the buttplate tang for the 8th Royal Bavarian Infantry “Grand Duke Frederick II of Baden”, Company 8, Weapon 199. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the buttplate and triggerguard sling swivel screw. Barrel has original blue finish mostly worn to the white, with some gray and brown patina. Remaining metal finish is original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock and underside of buttstock have Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. A hard to find Bavarian issued M71 Mauser Rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
