Excellent condition antique US Model 1898 Krag Jorgensen Carbine in .30-40 Krag caliber that is marked “U.S. / MODEL 1898. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY. 131296” on the receiver and was manufactured in 1898. Metal finish is excellent original blue showing very little wear. Bore is fine and bright with strong rifling, near excellent except for a couple of small dark pitted spots. Gun was arsenal restocked as a Model 1899 Carbine (without the saddle ring). Stock has excellent original finish and crisp edges with a few normal handling marks. Comes with original oiler and one section of the cleaning rod set that stores in the butt trap. This beautiful gun was formerly in author Frank Mallory’s collection.
