
ALL CORRECT CONFIGURATION-MFG 1874
Very good condition original antique US Model 1873 Trapdoor Springfield Cavalry Carbine in .45-70 Government caliber. Gun is in all correct Model 1873 Carbine configuration, including three-click tumbler, high arch breech block, 22” barrel, stacking swivel on barrel band, no triggerguard sling swivel, and correct carbine sights. Lock is marked “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / 1873” with the American eagle. Breech block is marked “MODEL 1873/eagle head/crossed arrows/U.S.” Serial number 34xxx, which dates it to manufacture in 1874. Mechanically functions fine. Metal finish is original blue showing some wear. Bore is good, gray with strong rifling and some pitting. Stock has been lightly buffed and has nice looking finish. Left side of wrist has a faint “ESA” inspector cartouche. Underside of wrist has a light “circle P” cartouche. A rare and desirable, very early US Model 1873 Trapdoor Carbine that will make a fine advanced addition to a collection.
