Good condition original Civil War British Pattern 1859 Naval Cutlass Bayonet, as issued with the Pattern 1858 Enfield Navy Rifle. Bayonet was manufactured by WKC in Germany and has the “knight head” trademark on the left ricasso. Right ricasso has a British proof mark and “dual Broad Arrows” indicating it was sold out of British service. 26 ¾” blade has original bright finish with some gray patches of pitting. Hilt has brown and gray patina with some light pitting. Checkered leather grips show some normal wear. Lock button and leaf spring function fine. Fitted in correct original leather scabbard that has steel throat and tip. Leather is somewhat dry and shows some wear and flaking. Stitching and staples are tight. A rare original British P-1859 Naval cutlass bayonet that will make a fine addition to a collection.
