NICE KANJI MARKINGS-RARE-KAWAGUCHIYA FIREARMS CO.
Very good condition Japanese Navy marked Martini Henry line throwing gun. This interesting piece is of the BSA (Birmingham Small Arms Company) pattern, but it does not have any BSA or other English markings, and it is unknown if these were produced by BSA and sold to Japan, or produced under license in Japan. Gun is marked “KFC” on the receiver ring for Kawaguchiya Firearms Company, with a naval anchor and a kanji character inspector marking. Right side of receiver has kanji characters for Blanks Only. Mechanically functions fine. No FFL required. Metal finish is nice original blue with some brown patina on the metal butt. 18 ½” barrel has original pendulum sight. Smooth bore is very good and bright with strong rifling and a little pitting. Wooden forend has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Comes with a printout of an article on this gun by Teri Jane Bryant. A rare and unusual Japanese naval line throwing gun that will make an excellent addition to a collection!
