Excellent condition antique US Model 1884 Trapdoor Springfield Rifle in .45-70 caliber. Lock is marked “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD” with the American eagle. Breech block is marked “MODEL 1884”. Barrel has “VP” and eagle head proof marks. Metal finish is excellent original blue. Breech block and breech tang retain vivid original case colors. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has beautiful original finish and crisp edges with a few normal handling marks. Left side of wrist has a sharp clear 1889 dated “SWP” inspector cartouche. Underside of wrist has a sharp clear “circle P” cartouche. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. A beautiful US Model 1884 Trapdoor Springfield Rifle, tough to find in this condition!
