Very good condition original pre WWI Imperial German Model 1871 Mauser bayonet. This is an unusual commercial variation, possibly for cadet use, but still fits the M1871 Mauser and GEW 88 Commission Rifles. Bayonet is maker marked “WK&C” on the right ricasso. 18 ¼” blade has original bright finish with a little scattered graying. Guard has original bright finish with some brown patina. Brass handle has nice mellow patina. Lock button and leaf spring function fine. Fitted in correct original leather scabbard that has brass throat and tip. Leather is soft and supple with some normal wear, stitching and staples are tight. Also complete with original leather frog. Leather is soft and supple with some normal wear and crazing, stitching and rivets are tight. Hard to find bayonet that will make a fine addition to a collection.
