Good condition antique French Mle 1842 musket in .72 caliber. Mechanically functions fine, lock has Chatellerault Arsenal markings. Barrel is dated 1848. Gun has been shortened to “Musketoon” configuration and has a 27” barrel. Metal has mostly brown patina. Smooth bore is dark and pitted. Stock has been refinished. Right side buttstock has an inlaid brass diamond that is engraved with a name in Gothic letters. Complete with ramrod. A good wall hanger!
