Very good condition WWI-WWII German GEW 98M Mauser Rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber that was manufactured by Erfurt Arsenal in 1901, as marked on the receiver. Rifle was updated between the wars, with a tangent rear sight replacing the Lange Vizier rear sight. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the cleaning rod. Metal finish is German arsenal reblue showing some normal wear. Bore is good, mostly bright with good rifling and some fine pitting. Stock was German arsenal refinished and shows some handling marks. Both sides of wrist have a hairline crack. Right side buttstock and undersides of wrist and forend have Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Underside of buttstock also has a matching serial number. Complete with correct original nonmatching numbered cleaning rod. A nice German GEW 98M Mauser Rifle with matching numbers.
