Very good condition original Civil War Union Army non-regulation cavalry officer’s sword. This interesting sword was manufactured in Germany, being marked “PDL” on the left ricasso for Luneschloss, and is retailer marked “TIFFANY & CO. NEW YORK” on the right side of the blade. Left side of blade is marked “WARRANTED TO CUT WROUGHT IRON”. 32” blade has original bright finish with a few dried grease stains. Nice etched panels, with “U.S.” on the left side and the American eagle on the right. Hilt has dark gray and brown patina with some light pitting. Sharkskin covered grip has tight wire wrap and shows some normal wear, no damage. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has the same dark brown and gray patina with some pitting, no dents. A scarce and desirable Civil War Tiffany saber that will make a fine addition to a collection.
