Good condition original WWI US Model 1917 bayonet, as issued with the P17 Enfield Rifle and various trench shotguns with bayonet adaptors. The bayonet is maker marked “REMINGTON” on the left ricasso and dated 1917. Right ricasso is marked “U.S.” with flaming bomb, “X”, and “eagle head” markings. Blade has the correct original metal finish of blued ricasso and remaining gray, showing some wear. Hilt has original blue finish showing wear to brown and gray patina. Wood grips show heavy wear and some chips. Lock button functions fine. Fitted in an original WWII Australian P07 Enfield scabbard. Leather shows very little wear and is marked “MANGROVITE ‘44”. Stitching and staples are tight. A good example of a WWI US Model 1917 bayonet for your collection.
