Good condition original pre WWI Imperial German Saxon Model 1852 cavalry sword. Has the Clemen & Jung manufacturer trademark on the left ricasso and is retailer marked “G.H. OSANG, DRESDEN” on the spine. Has a cancelled unit marking-“G.R.5.31.” on top of the guard, 33 ¼” blade has original bright finish with some graying and a little pitting. Has good etched panels. Edge has a couple of nicks. Still has original leather washer at the base. Brass hilt has attractive patina and a nice Saxon crest on the guard. Grip shows some normal wear and handling marks, no damage. Leather finger loop is present. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has original nickel plated finish showing wear and flaking to brown patina and a few dents. Has a leather strap attached to one hanger ring. A rare Saxon cavalry sword that will make a fine addition to a collection.
