Very good condition original US Model 1873 Trapdoor Springfield socket bayonet that has a nice “US” marking on the blade flat. Bayonet has nice original blue finish showing very little wear and a few tiny spots of light pitting. Complete with working lock ring. Fitted in correct original scabbard. Steel body has original blue finish showing wear to brown patina and some scattered black paint, no dents. Leather throat tab and belt loop are pliable with some wear and flaking. Stitching is tight. Belt loop is marked “WATERVLIET ARSENAL”. Has a brass “USN” roundel for US Navy issue. A nice Trapdoor Springfield bayonet with an uncommon US Navy scabbard.
