Very good condition original WWI Imperial German Model 1889 cavalry officer dress sword. 31” blade has nice original bright finish with sharp clear etched panels and nice fire blued panels. Left side has a royal cypher. Unit marked to the 17th (1st Grand Ducal Mecklenburgian) Dragoons on the right side. Never sharpened and still has original leather washer at the base. Hilt has nice original bright plated finish with attractive age toned patina. Guard has a beautiful Mecklenburg crest. Hard rubber grip shows some normal handling marks, no cracks or chips. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has original bright plated finish with some flaking, no dents. A nice, rare Mecklenburg Dragoon officer sword for your collection.
